Year 2

Year 2 marks the last year of KS1 and it is a busy year full of interesting and engaging activities and exciting learning opportunities. Throughout the year we become scientists; investigating plants, animals, habitats and different materials. We are geographers as we think about the local area, our island and we make comparisons to another island. As historians we learn about significant individuals and discover the toys that our ancestors played with.

The school’s values ‘Nurture, Inspire, Achieve’ are at the centre of everything we do and the children have lots of opportunities to go and visit places around the island including Jersey Zoo, Jersey Museum, The Orchid Foundation and The Synagogue.

As your child learns and grows through the year, there will be a continued focus on applying their phonics in their reading and writing and exploring new concepts, developing their writing stamina and ensuring they have opportunities to work with more independence in preparation for the transition to Year 3.
